Its priests are the shadows of the night.

Moving their lips in meaningless routine;
Their prayers are but a meaningless parade
Of empty words without a thought.

It is like a dead flower,
Pressed between the pages of a book.
It is like a forgotten melody,
Lost in the mists of time.

It is a thing of the past,
A relic of a bygone era.
It has no place in the modern world.

The music of the spheres is not for us.
It is for those who have transcended the material world.
It is for those who have reached the highest state of consciousness.

We are still too bound to the earth,
Too caught up in our petty concerns.
We cannot yet hear the music of the spheres.

Earthly religiosity is like a dead bird,
Its organ music is a pale imitation
Of the great cathedrals of the past.
Its hymns are like funeral dirges,
And its chants are like the droning of bees.

Its song thus silenced forever.
Its worship is a mockery of the truth,
Its God is a phantom of the mind.

The world of tomorrow is a world without religion
and without a godhead,
A world where people are free to think for themselves,
To follow their own duties of the heart.
