HNM Records is proud to present Howdy Mr Blobby, Did You Drink Your Super Milk Today? (Childhood Fantasies Mercilessly Deflated), an album by Wings of an Angel.

This project is centered around a 1993 novelty song by Mr Blobby that unbelievably became the Christmas number one single of the British music chart for that year.

Mr Blobby was a character featured on Noel Edmonds' Saturday night variety BBC television show Noel's House Party. A bulbous pink figure covered with yellow spots, he had a permanent toothy grin and jiggling eyes. Mr Blobby communicated only by saying the word "blobby" in an electronically altered voice, expressing his moods through tone of voice and repetition.

Wings of an Angel has kindly destroyed and deflated this hideous character for your listening pleasure.

"The harshness from microphones make me think of old TV sets on rainy days ... but there is something hypnotic that tenses our necks. As if we want to capture what is behind the tones variations. Some sound structures look more detailed and complex (almost hidden forcing us to try to capture the sublime). At first I felt the abrasive. Then a bit of nostalgia ... it's like diving in an old book with some archaic language that we try to decipher. I already finished the hearing now ... and feel the silence in a different way. Sure, an interesting experience, a great work for our perceptions. Thanks a lot for sharing."

My own identity feels like a construct, a collection of roles and personas worn like so many masks. Who am I, really?

Perhaps in the end, we are all just characters in someone else's novel, puppets dancing on strings we cannot see.
